History

In 1961, New Zealander John Anderson arrived in London ready to start his journey through Europe. He didn't have a lot of money and also didn't want to travel alone, so he came up with a plan. John put a deposit on a minibus and then gathered a group of people to travel with him. The group spent a total of twelve weeks traveling and exploring Europe together and had an amazing time. When the trip came to an end, John tried to sell his minibus but could not get anyone to buy it. So instead, in the spring of 1962, John decided to advertise another Europe trip. This time he was able to get two trips into the summer season, therefore doubling his business. Through this, Contiki Holidays was "born". Right from the start, Contiki was all about youth travel with its first tours being booked by 19-29 year olds and today, is the most popular youth travel company in the world.

In their offices worldwide, Contiki works towards reducing the impact of their daily activities by monitoring and minimizing their energy use, waste and paper consumption. In addition, Contiki gives back to local communities with all staff being given the opportunity to spend two working days per year volunteering with an approved charity of their choice, all on company time. A big bonus when traveling with Contiki is that you travel by coach, one of the most environmentally friendly ways to get around. Also, Contiki gives you options to offset your carbon emissions produced on your travels by providing information on carbon neutral providers.

It's easy and there are no set up fees! Once you enter your specific trip information, you can create a personal travel website, blog, photo album and announcement email. Funds are applied directly toward your vacation. We take care of everything... no hassles for you!

The Contiki Gift Registry does not replace booking your trip. A valid booking number is required to complete the registry. The money is applied directly toward the trip and is transferred 50 days before departure.
